The Ensemble and Equilibrium dancers were fortunate to have Monica Vallejo visit on Friday and share firsthand knowledge of the Dia de los Muertos Celebration. They were treated to a wonderful slide show that explained the history and meaning of the Mexican Celebration. Ms. Vallejo graciously brought in some of her family's flower crowns and let the dancers try them. She explained the meaning of the colors and flowers used in the flower crowns and sugar skull face painting. Students learned about the elements of the Ofrenda and why the Ofrenda is such an important part of the celebration. Ms. Vallejo's presentation included pictures of her family's Ofrenda and Mia de los Muertos Celebration.

Freshman Students & Families, We hope you have had a wonderful start to your freshman year! We want to make you aware of an important change to Arkansas state law. Students in the Class of 2027 and beyond are now required to complete community service to earn a high school diploma (Act 237 of 2023, pages 38-39). The law specifies students will earn 15 hours of community service in ninth grade and 20 hours of community service in each subsequent year of high school for 75 total hours. We are currently working hard to contact potential community partners that can provide community service opportunities for our students and are excited to announce these partnerships soon. We also look forward to hosting a Community Service Fair on November 14th, where students and their families can meet with representatives from organizations that have community service opportunities available. Sincerely, Dr. Allison Roberts, EdD, AAA CEO Mrs. Melody Morgan, AAA High School Principal Mrs. Amber Foster, AAA 10-12 Counselor Mrs. Kimberly Miller, AAA 7-9 Counselor Ms. Meredith McDowell, AAA College & Career Counselor
