Celebrating School Choice Week: Spotlight on Landon Evans
At Arkansas Arts Academy, the arts are not just classes—they are gateways to creativity, growth, and community. During School Choice Week, we shine a light on the unique journeys our students take as they explore their artistic passions. Today, we are excited to highlight one of our talented students who has found their niche in technical theatre.
Why Technical Theatre?
For Landon Evans, technical theatre is the perfect fit, combining a love of problem-solving, leadership, and creativity. "It fits me perfectly," they shared, "using my brain and leadership skills." Behind the scenes, technical theatre brings productions to life, blending the technical and artistic in ways that captivate audiences. This blend of precision and creativity has fueled Landon’s passion for this unique art form.
A Love for Arkansas Arts Academy
When asked what he loves most about Arkansas Arts Academy, Landon’s answer was simple yet profound: "The expansive community." At A.A.A., the sense of belonging and interconnectedness is palpable. "I’ve never been to another school, but I believe that A.A.A has helped me find my passion."
Moments of Belonging and Growth
Reflecting on his time at A.A.A., Landon fondly remembers the opportunities to pursue multiple interests, including culinary arts, theatre, and technical theatre, particularly during 7th and 8th grade. These experiences solidified his sense of belonging and allowed him to explore and discover his passions in a supportive environment.
A Teacher Who Inspires
Every student has that one teacher who leaves a lasting impact, and for Landon, it’s Mr. Harris. "Not only is he friendly, but he actually inspires me to creatively write more," he said. Mr. Harris has been instrumental in helping Landon improve his writing skills across various genres, from creative to argumentative, further enriching his education.
Favorite Projects and Future Dreams
One of Landon’s most memorable projects at A.A.A. was working on the technical side of the production Puffs. As a self-proclaimed Harry Potter nerd, this experience was particularly meaningful. It also helped him realize his true passion for technical theatre.
Looking to the future, this student plans to pursue an engineering degree at the University of Arkansas, blending their math and technical skills with the problem-solving and leadership qualities they’ve honed at A.A.A.
Advice for Future Students
To anyone considering Arkansas Arts Academy, Landon has one piece of advice: "It has a small, yet interconnected community, with more choices for arts classes than you have fingers."

Arkansas Arts Academy, in collaboration with the Children's Advocacy Center (CAC), will hosting a Parent Forum Monday, January 27, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at the AAA High School led by trained professionals at CAC. Discussions and resources will be provided on ways parents can guide and support students through trauma. Please join us.
Arkansas Arts Academy High School has been identified by the Arkansas Department of Education School Recognition Program as one of the top schools in the state for Performance/Growth/Graduation based on student assessment results from the 2023-2024 school year and graduation rates from the 2022-2023 school year. Ranked in the top 6%-10% of Performance/Growth/Graduation within Arkansas Public Schools, this is a true testament to the hard work the AAA high school staff is doing on behalf of our 7th-12th grade students. The high school staff, working together to align instruction, provide highly effective teaching practices, arts integrated learning experiences, relative assessments, continued support, intervention strategies and engagement- is helping AAA rise to the top. Congratulations to the AAA HS staff for this outstanding work. AAA is a great place to be!
