Arkansas Arts Academy is committed to using assessment data to help drive improvements in instruction so that all students can find success. A student's assessment scores provide us with a current picture of that student's level of understanding and ability. We use that data to help plan appropriate interventions and enrichments so that all students are growing toward their full potential. This page provides information about each of the state required assessments and a calendar of when those assessments occur throughout the school year.

Assessment Instrument Information:

iReady: iReady is a universal diagnostic in reading and math that all of our students in grades K-12 take three times a year with growth monitoring checks completed between full diagnostics. The data is used to identify specific skills and concepts that individual students need to have reinforced and is monitored by teachers and administrators to ensure that all students are growing. For more information about iReady click here.

ELPA21: The ELPA21 exam is provided to our ELL students in order to measure their proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening to the English language. This test is given once per year to measure student's growth from year to year. Once student's have completed the monitoring period of the ELL program, they can be exited. For more information please email our ESOL Coordinator, Thomas Stephenson.

ACT Aspire: The ACT Aspire is a nationally normed standardized test that assesses students' knowledge of grade level mathematics, reading, english, science, and writing. The test can be used to predict success on the ACT. Students receive scores of exceeding, ready, close, or in need of support. These scores are used by the school and the state to identify weaknesses in curriculum that need to be addressed and to monitor student growth from year to year. 2022-2023 will be the last year for the ACT Aspire exam in Arkansas.

ACT vs. SAT: What's the Difference?

As students approach high school it is important to start thinking about what you will do after high school. Most students should consider taking a college readiness test like the ACT or SAT. Both tests can provide information about a student's current readiness for college level work and can be taken multiple times to allow for improvement between attempts. Students who have completed Algebra I should consider taking the ACT or SAT for the first time in order to gain familiarity with the test of their choice.

Most scholarships at state colleges in Arkansas are based on ACT scores:

ACT Challenge Scholarship requires a minimum of 19

Arkansas Governor's Scholarship requires a 28

Arkansas Distinguished Scholarship requires a 32
