Testing Season is Here

Our state required testing started today with our K-2 students.  They will also test tomorrow. For our 3rd-6th students, the testing will occur April 15-18.  Please make sure your students arrive on time, have their favorite breakfast, and get an extra pat on the back during this time.

Tuesday and Thursday Morning Walking Club

On Tuesday and Thursday mornings for the rest of the school year, the walking club will be held outside.  This allows the students more space along with a chance to get some great fresh air. Consider this when choosing your child’s shoes for the day.

End of the K-3 Hallway in the Morning

Please have your students enter the K-3 building at the open doors at the walkway attached to the 4-5 building.  We have had some students come to the end of the K-3 building and bang on the door interrupting learning instead of walking around.

Watch the Crosswalks

Please note that we have two different crosswalk locations on our campus.  We have one that crosses the car line to the sidewalk by the gym and another that crosses 12th street from the 6th grade center.  If there is not someone to help your child cross, please walk your child at these locations. As you are driving, please drive safe because our children go to school here.

Absence Letters

Please make sure you contact the front office at 636-2272 or email Mrs. Lewis when your child is out and the reason for the absence.

How to Run for School Board

Arkansas Arts Academy has 7 Board Members.  They meet each month of the year on the 2ndTuesday of the month.  This year there are two Board Members up for reelection – Joe DeRouen and Alicia Knotts.  The election will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2019. If you decide to run, you must include which candidate to compete against.  The function of the Arkansas Arts Academy Board of Education is to establish policies that guide the operation of the school in areas such as instruction, personnel, facilities, management and community relations.  As a Board of Education member you effectively agree to attend regular monthly and special board meetings, to review the board packet in advance of meetings, and to keep informed about the issues on which you make decisions. Annual school board training is required.  A Board of Education member cannot be an employee of Arkansas Arts Academy or have a personal financial interest in the school. A member must currently have a child attending Arkansas Arts Academy or a child that graduated from the school. Please apply by clicking on the link below and filling out the form.  All applicants are due by April 2nd and following the April Board meeting on April 19th we will have a panel with all applicants.

Congrats to the Dancers!
