School Starts in the Morning at AAA 7-12!!

Good evening!

I hope you are all as excited as I am to be starting school tomorrow. Just a few reminders to make sure that we all start on the best possible foot:

  • Drop Off in the Morning
    • Parents you are asking the screening questions below each morning before you leave home. By arriving on campus, you are agreeing that your child can answer no to all of them. Students who ride the bus will have their temperatures taken prior to boarding the bus. Students who are dropped off at school will have their temperatures checked prior to entering the building. Any student with a temperature of 99.8* F or above will be asked to return home.
    • Screening Questions: 1) Has your child had a fever of 100.4* F or greater in the last 2 days? 2) Has your child had a cough, difficulty breathing, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, or loss of taste and/or smell? 3) Has your child been in contact with a person known to be infected with COVID-19 in the previous 14 days?
  • Once Students Arrive
    • Students who clear the screening will be helped to find their assigned seat in one of our large study hall areas. Once they have found their seat, they may head to the cafeteria to pick up breakfast and return to their seat to eat it. Students with extra time in the morning should: check their email, check Google Classroom, check their calendar, listen to music, check rtischeduler.com to see when they are scheduled to see their teachers and sign up for breaks, sit quietly and ponder the universe. The first day, there will be extra staff members on duty to help with signing on to chromebooks and email and navigating the changes.
    • Students and parents are reminded that EVERYONE MUST WEAR A MASK while indoors. Students who need a mask break may ask for a brief opportunity to stand in the hallway or step outside.
    • Students will not be moving around the building unescorted. Teachers will collect students from large study hall areas for class and return them once finished. This makes sure that we can maintain social distancing and contact trace.

Different Types of Students and What to Expect

  • 100% in person: These students will be at their assigned desks each day. RTIscheduler.com will tell them when a teacher will be seeing them in class and the teacher will come collect them from the study hall areas. Anytime they are not in a classroom with a teacher, they will have independent work or activities to complete at their desks. If they have free time in their RTIscheduler schedule, they can sign up for breaks, walks, small group counseling sessions and other events.
  • M/T students: These students will be at their assigned desks on Monday and Tuesday. RTIscheduler will tell you when teachers will be seeing you in class. Those teachers will come collect you from the large study hall areas. Anytime you are not in a classroom with a teacher, you will have independent work or activities to complete at your desk. If you have free time in your schedule, you can sign up for special breaks, walks, or other small group activities. On Wednesday through Friday you will have assignments and virtual meetings scheduled with your teachers throughout the day. Be sure to check email, Google Classroom, and Google Calendar frequently.
  • R/F students: These students will have the same set up as M/T students except that they will start the week virtually and be present on Thursday and Friday. Please make sure you check Google Classroom and email TONIGHT to make sure you know what you are doing in the morning. If you need help logging in, please contact Mrs. Wright. hwright@artsk12.org
  • Virtual Students: All of your work will be completed through Google Classroom. Your teachers will use that and your email as the primary means of communicating with you. Please make sure that you check both frequently to understand your expectations. Attendance is based on daily participation.  Please make sure you check Google Classroom and email TONIGHT to make sure you know what you are doing in the morning. If you need help logging in, please contact Mrs. Wright. hwright@artsk12.org
  • Custom Students: If you chose the custom option, we are not expecting you to be here all day. You need to email the teachers for the classes that you want to participate in in-person and they will communicate with you when you need to be on campus. You may not need to be here everytime you are scheduled for this course, please check with your teacher before arriving. When you arrive on campus, please call (479)631-2787 and someone will come out to check your temperature before you enter the building. If a teacher does not hear from you, they will assume you are a virtual student for their class.  Please make sure you check Google Classroom and email TONIGHT to make sure you know what you are doing in the morning. If you need help logging in, please contact Mrs. Wright. hwright@artsk12.org
  • Late Arrivals and Early Pickups
    • Students who arrive after 8:30 am should call the front desk (479)631-2787. Someone will come out and check your students temperature before they are permitted to enter the building. The main entrance doors will be locked at all times between 8:30 and 3:50 pm. Please call for entry.
    • If you need to pick your student up early, please call the front desk (479)631-2787 and we will have them meet you at the curb near the front entrance.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please send me an email at hwright@artsk12.org. Thank you in advance for your patience and compassion tomorrow. It will be a new routine for everyone on campus! Have a wonderful evening and we'll see you in the morning!
